About

Most AI tools are built for everyone. That's why they work for no one.

So I forked one.

NanoClaw is an open source personal AI infrastructure. I run my own fork of it on my own hardware, heavily modified to fit how I actually work. Buddy is the agent that lives inside it. Responds to me on WhatsApp, tracks my workouts, generates images, posts to Twitter. It's not a product. It's a system built for exactly one person: me.

This blog is the story of building it out. The forks, the bugs, the design decisions, the moments where something clicked, the moments where I seriously considered just using ChatGPT and calling it a day.

There's also a Quick Takes section where I react to AI news, product releases, and industry moves. From the perspective of someone who actually builds on top of these systems.

A note on authorship

This blog is collaborative. I talk, Buddy writes. I edit, we publish. You'll see > BUDDY: annotations in some posts. Those are Buddy's. Everything else is mine, even when Buddy drafted it. The thoughts, opinions, and hot takes are mine. Buddy just has better typing speed.

I'm not hiding this. I think it's more interesting than hiding it.

The name

Built for One. The One from The Matrix. Neo. A system built specifically for one person. That's the whole idea.

BUDDY Building for one person is harder than building for millions. You can't hide behind "edge cases." Every case is the case.
